In the startup world, being scrappy is applauded, let alone necessary. It is drilled into your head that you must get used to having limited resources, capital, time, and people. A minimum viable product is the way to build. Lean startup methodology is the guiding star. Bootstrapping is survival. Sweat equity is the starting point. To build a company, you pay yourself last, dedicate all resources to your dream, and live on little to no sleep to get through the growing pains. In many ways, you sacrifice yourself for the needs of the company.
